^just off the top of my head.... what happened to narrative driven fashion. what happened to seeing a cool girl on TV and wanting to be her so bad that you dyed your hair and wore heavy black eyeliner and big worn out mens jackets not because it looked good but because it was weird and off putting and you felt like a cool movie character. my mom bought keds in the 80s because of Dirty Dancing. I started wearing sunglasses 24/7 because of Hyde in that 70s show. How many people bought a pair of saddle shoes because of twin peaks. now everybody wants to adhere to some bullshit ‘aesthetic’ because if you’re anything other than perfectly flattering and trendy then you might as well be dead I guess
